We will work with you as we develop our plans, and we encourage you and/or your representatives to contact us if you have any questions.
Land referencing
We need to know who has a legal interest in the land in and around the proposed route for Green GEN Towy Usk. Using publicly available Land Registry Data, we’ve identified interested parties who we believe may be affected by the project. Our appointed land agents, Bruton Knowles, will be in touch with individual landowners to ensure we have accurate and up to date records, and that the information reflects the current occupation of the land.
Access for surveys
When planning and developing our projects, we need to carry out surveys to help inform both the scheme’s design and the Environmental Impact Assessment.
We need to survey a wide area to ensure we understand the local environment, how it might be affected by our work and any mitigation required. These surveys include geology, ecology, and land use. If we ask to do surveys on your land, it does not necessarily mean that the land will form part of the route or have infrastructure placed on it. The results of the surveys will help inform decisions on the routeing and siting of the Green GEN Towy Usk project.
The findings of these surveys will be included as part of our Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and will help us develop a detailed alignment for the overhead line route, including locations for pylons, access routes and working areas. We will hold a public consultation on the proposed route alignment during 2024.
We will work closely with landowners and occupiers to agree access so that surveys are carried out, wherever possible, at appropriate times and with as little inconvenience as possible.
Allowing Green GEN Cymru access to land does not stop landowners making representations about the Green GEN Towy Usk project at any time and allowing us access for surveys does not affect any rights to comment on our proposals in any form.
Our land agents, Bruton Knowles, will continue to seek voluntary agreements with landowners and occupiers for access, but where that cannot be achieved we may need to seek relevant legal powers.
